hey there - i'm Tom Nyuma, but most know me as Nyuma. (why i go by my surname) i'm an "ambidextrous" software engineer (why i don't lean frontend or backend) hopping between Boston, MA, Portland, OR, Washington, DC, and New York City, NY.
i'm all about creating software that not only works but actually provides value. after learning to code in the pandemic, i found a passion for building software that doesn't take your money, data, or privacy (why i don't sell my projects) -- yet is still beautiful, functional, and intuitive.
i'm a huge nerd for the performing arts, and i love to write.

outside of coding, i find solace in reading, particularly (manga) and (life) books. back in the day, i was a mega-band kid, marching DCI in high school, performing in places like Carnegie Hall, and touring all over the country.
these days, i spend most of my time with my significant other, exploring cities, and learning new things about the world...and overall, trying to enjoy this one life we have on this planet we call earth.
